SCIAHK-Basic Law Institute Talk: Lessons from the 2016 South China Sea Arbitration for the Settlement of Territorial-Maritime Disputes
18LC is pleased to serve as a supporting organiser to a forthcoming talk co-organised by the South China International Arbitration Centre (Hong Kong) and Basic Law Institute on the legal aspects of terroritorial-maritime disputes in the South China Sea. The talk is also supported by the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (HKIArb).
Delivered by Professor Anthony Carty (Emeritus Professor of Law, Beijing Institute of Technology), this talk discusses the nature and legal implications of disputes concerning the South China Sea, focusing on the 2016 Special Tribunal Decision on the Legal Status of the South China Sea Islands according to the 3rd Law of the Sea Convention and its implications for the role of judicial settlement of international disputes.
