Professional Practice

Kristy is currently developing a broad practice in civil and criminal law and has been involved in cases encompassing areas such as competition, family, intellectual property, trusts, land, company, money laundering, SFC-related matters and personal injuries. Kristy accepts instructions in all areas of work, and has appeared before different levels of court either as a led junior or a sole advocate.

In respect of intellectual property, Kristy’s recent trade mark cases include:-

1. Acted for Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. in opposing the registration of Trademark “ATWO” based on s.11 of the Trade Marks Ordinance (absolute grounds for refusal): (hearing held in January 2023, decision pending)

2. Acted for Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. in opposing the registration of Trademark “a2 Store” based on s.11 of the Trade Marks Ordinance (absolute grounds for refusal): (hearing held in January 2023, decision pending)

3. Acted against Jaguar Land Rover Ltd in the revocation of Trademark “JAGUAR” in a 2-days trial before the Registrar of Trade Marks: [2023] HKTMR 4

4. Acted for a world leading manufacturer of printed circuit boards in a 3-days trial before the Registrar of Trade Marks: Trade Mark “KINWONG 景旺电子 ”[2022] HKTMR 26

5. Acted in various registrability proceedings before the Registrar of Trade Marks: see e.g. Re: Hong Kong Trade Mark Application No. 306015203 (饺皇); and Re: Hong Kong Trademark Application No. 3059785301 (MYPATHFINDER)

Kristy is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as having a working knowledge of Korean. As such, she is capable of providing written submissions and conducting hearings in both English and Chinese.
